Representative Director Jun-ichi Furumoto spoke at “Inspire! Startups x High School Students in Kyoto 2024” (hosted by Japan Finance Corporation) held at the Symposium Hall on the 5th floor of the International Science Innovation Building at Kyoto University’s Yoshida Campus on Tuesday, August 6.

The event, which brought together startups aiming to solve social issues through deep tech, was attended by about 200 high school students from the Kinki region, as well as Tokyo, Kanagawa, Aichi, and other cities, and was so successful that seats were urgently added on the day of the event.

In the startup presentation, he talked about the impetus for founding MetroWeather, our nine-year history to date, Doppler LiDAR technology and the businesses in which it is utilized, and the human resources required in a world where AI and other technologies exist.

In the panel discussion by the speakers, real stories were told about how they spent their high school years, what kind of students they were, why they chose universities and graduate schools, how they started their businesses, how they met people and seized opportunities, and finally, a message to the high school students.

After all the sessions, we participated in an exchange session with high school students, where we were able to see their high level of interest in society and got many questions that would be asked by university students in the midst of their job search.

We saw many students taking notes intently as they listened, smiling and earnestly listening, and giving verbal answers to the questions posed to them.

For students with unlimited potential, the passion and the way of life to challenge their dreams and goals, and the rewarding experience of never giving up and continuing to work hard for the benefit of others are able to contribute to society. Also, We hope that this will be conveyed to the high school students, even if only a little, as a driving force that propels them forward.

We will continue to work for the development of society by supporting activities for children who have the potential for a bright future, in cooperation with local communities, governments, businesses, and other organizations.
